Has it been a long time or what?!?!? Well, life has been quite eventful for us lately. For those of you who still check this thing and dont' know yet, we are expecting a baby at the end of January, Lord willing! Hallelujah! Praise the LORD! My actual due date is Feb. 2nd but it is a late date- actually past 40 weeks. We are so very very excited. I am almost 1/2 way along. I will be 20 weeks on Friday and I gained my first actual pound today!!! I have been sick, so my calorie intake has been a minimum, unfortunately. Anyway, God is always good, and we are so grateful!

I don't see much of a computer so it's difficult for me to keep in touch with all of you bloggers and facebookers. Know that I do think of you often. Those of you that have had kids or are pregnant or are engaged or got married- I have been rejoicing with you. My sweet husband keeps me updated as much as he can remember.

Rejoicing in the Lord!
Heidi

Hockey Game Picture

We had a blast at the Phila. I know some of you have been wondering where we are and what's going on.
Well, we are doing great, staying busy with our church. We are really seeing God's hand in many aspects... He's so good. We just need to be patient, faithful, and remember that God IS always working even when we can't see it. And for that I am grateful!

I've been pondering a lot lately how grateful I am for the Lord's hand upon our life. His guidance and protection are so amazing. I'm so thankful He watches over us, helping us every moment. There are so many times we don't even realize it, but for the moments in which I do realize, I'm grateful. God is ALWAYS good and for that I am grateful too. What an amazing God we have to trust, lean on, depend on, run to.... WOW! I truly am in awe of His mercy. No matter how many times a day that I fail Him, He's always there. I think of my sin, and how it displeases God, yet in His rich mercy He blessses me abundantly. It's His nature! Mercy! Yes, a part of His nature is His wrath also, but I am thankful He knows, understands, and gives us what we need-- even if it is His wrath.

We've had NUMEROUS exciting things happening within the Harney home. We have a new niece! Praise the Lord for Olivia Nicole who was born at the end of November to Tim's sister. She has got to be one of the most beautiful baby girls ever! She's just gorgeous.
We also BOUGHT A HOUSE! Whoa baby! That has been a very exciting step for us. Maybe someday I'll get pictures up. It's not as easy for us anymore. We settle on Dec. 27th and begin to move in. We hope to be completely moved in by the 29th. We are praising God ! WOW! What answers to prayer....HE gave us this house....100 %!!! We are so grateful and humbled and God's working in our lives on our behalf.

In November, Tim was officially installed as Pastor Harney. It was such a special, memorable time. His oldest brother came to be the guest speaker, and his parents came to surprise him. It was awesome-- what a story to be told. I had many of my family members attend also from the area, which was also special. It was such a nice time. Again- we are grateful to the LORD because we know this is all of His doing.

Tonight we are going to a Hockey game as a church activity. Tim is pumped! Those of you who know him well, know that He LOVES hockey, and this is his first time going to a hockey game so we are quite excited. Sunday is our Christmas Cantata (Lord willing...weather permitting!) Tim is the Narrator and I am in the choir. There is so much more to tell --We have lots more church related activites and things that keep us busy. We love what we do and are excited to be in the work of the Lord.
Please pray for us as we continue to minister and seek to please the Lord. We know that we have a lot to learn. We want to learn and be usable for the Lord. Daily decisions need met, Weekly problems arise that need dealt with; we want to handle things God's way and be wise with our tongues, etc. Most of all, we want to be holy; we want the LORD to be pleased with our heart. We want victory over those momentary battles. He is able for which we are grateful we do not have to face our battles alone. The battle is the Lord's. Pray that we will be obedient!

Hopefully, we'll post before Christmas. But knowing us, it probably won't happen... :( So, if not, we wish you all a Merry Christmas. Rejoice in our Savior. He is worthy! Don't forget about HIM in the midst of the "December busyness"!!
Much love!
T & H

Some Summer happenings....

Well the school year ended with blessings. We are so happy!
We are living in a little town outside of Sinking Spring which is right outside of Reading. Tim is the Assist/Youth/Outreach/Missions Pastor :) We are very excited for what the Lord is so graciously doing. We love being here- God has given us such a wonderful place to serve with such great people. Wow! We have been all over PA - visited family, went to Hershey Park, interviewed at a church, and then to IL. We went to the Shedd Aquarium today and saw all kinds of interesting creatures. We have been having a great time with Tim's family. Tomorrow, we are on our way back to PA to CANDIDATE! We are very excited at what the Lord is doing. Even if we don't get voted in and this is not the Lord's will, we are grateful for the experience we had and the precious people we met there. I thank the Lord for the constant reminder to me that He is still working- He is always working, even though we cannot always see it. He's good.
We get to fly- HALLELUJAH! to PA tomorrow and fly back to IL on Monday. Then on Wednesday we will see our loved ones at Lifeway in Indiana. And, Lord willing, finally head home to SC on Friday or Saturday to make our travels a grand total of a month! yikes!

We hope to be in touch again soon--- and maybe someday, more frequently.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

SCHOOL'S OUT!

Wow! what a time! I could talk for hours about the things I've learned in the last 10 months. It was a very hard time, but I am grateful because I knew God meant it for good. I am so thankful that God loves me so much that He allowed me to go through this time to learn things that has made me a better Christian, woman, wife, and eventually a better parent. He is always good!

It was wonderful to sleep in on a Monday morning, and not have to go to SCHOOL! What a blessing!

God has done a lot for us! Please pray as we go to PA for an interview for an Assist./youth pastor. We leave June 2nd to spend some time with my family, then on June 9-11, we will be in Reading PA with Maranatha Baptist Church. Then we go to IL to see Tim's family, then to MN for Dave Jones wedding, then back to IL, then to IN to see our loved ones at Lifeway, then back to SC. We will be traveling for the next 3 weeks! We are on Spring Break! How exciting. We are very much enjoying the rest so far, and looking forward to the week to relax some. We don't have many plans this week, except to rest, get together with some friends, and get caught up on school work. I will be needing to get a lot of things done for my Kindergarten graduation program in just 7 weeks. God is so good. We are so excited to have a break. Last night we had a party and today we slept in and went downtown Greenville with some friends. It was great!
Hope you are doing well also and enjoying yourself!! :)

Finally...

finally a time to jot a few words. Basketball season is over- Hallelujah. It was a lot of fun to coach together as husband/wife, but we also faced many hard times during the season. Although, we are thankful for the lessons. We recognize it is preparing us for future ministry. Our school has been under such attack. The power of satan's hold is sadly so evident.
Things have been going much better these last couple weeks, for which we are thankful.
Thank you for the many of you who have prayed for me and my family since my dad's death to alcoholism. God has graciously granted peace to my heart. Everything happened all at once and so fast, I felt as if I wouldn't be able to get relief, but my God is good. I could write a book about the things I have learned and all about God's goodness. He is so merciful to me. I was so concerned about my dad's salvation-I talked with a pastor at my dad's funeral and asked him what he knew of my dad's salvation. He told me that several months prior, my dad came to church with his new wife. (He was remarried in February) The pastor said he raised his hand for a decision, and later he went and spoke with my grandfather. He truly believed that my dad received Christ- my grandparents said they saw a change in his life. I am resting in this. God has given me hope that I will see my dad again. It's still so hard to believe he is gone- it still comes as a shock when I think about it. God's grace is more than enough! He's been so good to me.
Tim and I are doing great.... anxiously waiting for end of the school year! :) Kindergarten Graduation Program is what most of my time has been occupied with now (outside of just normal school responsibilities, of course) I have 9 weeks left until graduation. 10 weeks until High School Graduation.
The only other exciting thing that has happened to us recently is we have a new Nephew!!! :)
We hope to post pictures soon.
Thank you again - many of you- for praying and staying in touch. We were busier than ever, but surviving - hallelujah!
God is so good! Our basketball girls are doing well- we are quite proud of them and we are enjoying coaching them very much. We have more wins then losses! That awesome especially since we have a rebuildling year. Most of our team has never played ball before and the majority are 7th and 8th graders. We are having fun. It's draining, but we are having fun with them.
School is busy as usual....Tim is plugging along with 6th grade and I am doing the best I can with Kindergarten - 10th grade. Yes, that is Kindergarten THROUGH 10th grade :)

School got out on the 15th and we drove to IN on the 16th and spent a few days there with precious friends. It was very refreshing to be with them and to worship at Lifeway. On the 20th we left for IL to spend the rest of our break with Tim's family. We are having a nice time here, as always. The rest of the fam comes in tomorrow (friday)

Dave Jones got to come visit us for a weekend and that was awesome. We had such a good time with him and friends.

Meet our friends : Bert and Christina. It was good, very short, but good times spent with my family. We received a HUGE blessing that was completely unexpected.... we got a washer and dryer for Christmas. YAHOOO! I had no idea! I have been learning a lot and struggling through a lot. I have been amazed, humbled and in awe of God's abundant mercy on me each day. Wow! Every moment of each day has been a battle for me. Moment by moment surrender of my will to God. I hope to share more about what I have been learning at another time. It's a struggle to find time. we are at the school at least 12 hours a day. By the time we get home (around 7pm) I get dinner, etc and then get ready for the next day, etc - you know how it goes. Anyway- God is always good and I am trying to keep a spirit of rejoicing, though I am constantly failing.
Tim and I are doing absolutely great! I'm so grateful for such a wonderful, supportive husband. Life is very eventful-- always something :) We got to go to Myrtle Beach for a teacher's convention and that was awesome. I hope to put up pictures soon! Our room was on the 17th floor of a beachfront hotel. Each morning and night we got to walk the beach. It was awesome. We also got to enjoy the nearby aquarium during our free time from sessions. It was a nice break. Also eventful- long story short....God showed His protection very clearly to us on the way to the conference. We were following our administrator's car and in front of him was a semi carrying a large piece of equipment. As we were approaching an overpass, the semi did not make the clearance and 6 inches of the bridge came down. Nobody was hurt- Hallelujah. We got the second wind of it, so we don't have any damage really except for knicks in the windshield that will be replaced. The car in front of us got much more of the damage, but certainly not what it could have been. We really believe God sent His angels to take charge of the pieces of cement that were falling.

Soccer season is almost finished...then starts basketball. We are trusting God for extra strength, and wisdom.
Really must go for now- i hope to write more at another time. Sure do miss keeping in touch with all of you.
Much Love!

First Win Coaching Solo

Well, again it has been a while...but I thought I would update everyone on how things are going while I had a chance. So far things are still moving on! The most exciting thing that has happened for me was my first win as a soccer coach. This Tuesday (Oct. 10th) I had the chance to coach our guys team (by myself), and we came out on the winning end of things 6-0! It was a great learning experience for me, and I had a lot of fun! It was a JV game (which means none of our older players can play, so that makes the win even more impressive!) Anyway, I just thought I would pass that information along! We miss you all very much! Things have kind of been a little hectic around here to say the least. With soccer practices and lesson plans taking up a majority of our time, we really don't have the chance to come and tell you what is going on. Plus if you add into the equation that we can only do any internet work from the school, where we are so very busy...it really doesn't allow much down time. But there is good news...we have survived the first month of teaching!!! It has not been easy all the way, as a matter of fact there have been many difficulties that Satan has put in our path to try and keep us discouraged. So if you could remember to pray for us in that way, we would greatly appreciate it. As far as the day to day classroom activities are concerned, we'll just say that you just have to be here to understand! =)
Anyway, things are going...and we just need a lot of prayer. We miss you and love you all very much. Until the next time we can get to a computer...Have a Wonderfully Fabulous Day of Rejoicing in God's Goodness.

FYI...

We will not be in the blogging world very often anymore :( . He is finished one week from tomorrow!! yahoo! Then we have one week of classroom/school/lesson plans preparation with trying to adjust our sleeping schedules etc back to the norm...a time to rejuvenate for Tim, hopefully. Then, the next week we are going to a training the school is sending us to at Bob Jones. That weekend we have a wedding to go to in North Carolina where the Harney family will get to reunite again . Then, the next week we, Lord willing, will be traveling to Indiana/Illinois to visit friends and family during the week, and head to Kevin Burrill and Heather Hobbes' wedding that weekend. Then, travel home because teacher in-service begins August 8th. School begins the 14th. And that's the rest of our summer! Yikes!
(Just think, we did have a PA trip scheduled in there too, but we had to cancel. It's just too much for us right now, and too expensive to do all that traveling at this time. We really wish we could make it to PA- I miss it, but God knows and Lord willing, we'll get to go for Thanksgiving. )

p.s. those of you who have been praying for Misty Ticknor- please keep praying, they took baby Toby in to the hospital tonight b/c of seizures....they are doing a spinal tap for spinal meningitis. We are so blessed...

Today, we finally got a vehicle!!! For those of you who don't know, we were in a wreck in September 2005 and totaled our car. Since then we have borrowed cars! First, we borrowed a car from the incredible assistant/youth pastor in Indiana (our dear friend, Pastor Steve) until Tim's wonderful parents let us use their car which we still presently have. It has been such an awesome blessing to see how God has worked. We stand in awe truly. We knew we would need to get a car soon- and God worked it all out to give us this Honda CR-V. Tim has been eyeing this vehicle ever since we moved down here... we didn't think we would be able to get it until August (when we have 2 pay checks coming in), but Tim wanted to go over and talk to the guys at the dealer (again) just to see what they had to say about the car and see how much we could talk them down. Well, we talked and did more talking etc etc and they gave it to us with no payment until the end of August! Because it was a little more than what we wanted to pay because there was a little more miles on it than we wanted, they gave us a bunch of vouchers for oil changes, and $500 worth of services including tires, etc - plus a free tank and a half of gas- on top of the warranty the car already has. We came home and were so excited that we just couldn't sit still. After Tim went to work, I sat down and prayed, thanking God for the gift and asking Him to make confirm it again for us that we made the right decision. Within 15-20 minutes, the dealer called me back and asked me to come over and sign all the papers again because he worked some figures and got us a better deal!(tim has to go back tomorrow morning to sign) Too awesome! Wow! So, we were able to have it a lot sooner than what we thought.... which is nice b/c we have some traveling coming up. We thought for sure that it was beyond our imagination to actually have THIS vehicle. Tim did a lot of research on the CRV-- it's quite the vehicle! We wanted an economical SUV so bad (for many reasons); but anyway, we are so grateful, and can't stop talking about how much we LOVE it! We are rejoicing in God! ANOTHER HALLELUJAH!
It's been nice to have a car too while Tim is gone. I got to go to the post office and grocery shopping and some errands-- wow it was so nice, and I didn't have to be rushed at all. Talk about leisure! :) I am going to feel even more spoiled this week having a vehicle- I won't have to bum rides for everything! I didn't even have to do that in college...I always had my own car! :)
God is always good all the time!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://harneysathome.blogspot.com/2006/07/wow-we-are-so-blessed.html' title='Wow! WOW! Well, Tim had off work (YIPPPEEE) ! We went to Dan and Sarah Ruley's house for lunch. Then the four of us plus Daniel's brother, Dwight went to an Atlanta Braves game. It was very hot! Whew! When we left home it was 98 degrees....who knows what it got up to in Atlanta.

We got there early and hung out.
<picture>(picture not showing)
We also got to see the torch from the Olympics in '96.
<picture>(picture not showing)
We all got free hats!!! They are really nice hats too! We were so excited!
<picture>(picture not showing)

They did a lot of neat stuff for the 4th. President Bush gave a message to us and then they brought out the flag with military men holding it while they had a recording of "O Beautiful for Spacious Skies." The men started waving the flag...everyone was cheering. It was just awesome! It was so emotional. The highlight of the day for me!

We were enjoying ourselves, having a great time, then it began to rain....then it began to downpour....then it began to just STORM with thunder- lightning - everything! We had great seats for it though! ;) They stopped the game and many people were leaving- but we weren't leaving b/c we came for the fireworks!!! We didn't really care anyway- the rain wasn't bothering us. So we waited 3 hours!!!!!
<picture>(picture not showing)

They game finally resumed and we got to move up really close because so many people left. I think we were about 10 rows back behind Braves' dugout.
<picture>(picture not showing)
We were quite hyped about it, but then they announced that they are canceling the fireworks because of city noise laws for that late at night. Talk about a disappointment! The Braves lost- no fireworks- But we did get a free hat, made lots of memories and had a great time! We got home at 3:30 this morning!! Needless to say, my poor husband is super weak and tired today and wasn't looking forward to going to work, but I know that God has granted Him strength! Isn't it wonderful to look to Him and trust in Him for every need?!?! He's so worthy of praise- just because of Who He IS!! Hope you all enjoyed your Independence Day.
(picture not showing)

<picture>

Family is so precious!

We had the joy of having Aunt Judy and Grandma (Heidi's side) stay with us for 4 days! Oh how we wish it was longer! They traveled here on Monday from Pennsylvania and left on Friday morning. My family becomes more precious to me each passing day, and I thank the Lord for that. He put that in my heart! I got all excited about looking forward to seeking to be a blessing to them while they were here, but once they got here til the minute they left, they were overwhelming me with blessings (as always)!! I sure loved the company, but not just that it was company, but that it was their company. It was also great having a vehicle-- we were able to go do laundry, grocery shopping, some errands. That was so nice! Tim had to work each day, but we stayed up waiting for him each night! :) Aunt Judy, Grandma and I went to the mall one day, we went out to eat one day, and spent the evenings talking and watching old movies. It was so fun. One afternoon all of us (with Tim) got to go out for lunch! They are so loving, generous, and sweet! I miss you and can't wait to see you again!!!!
One of the blessings they brought to us was MORE FURNITURE!! YIPPPEEE! We now have dressers!!! yeah!!! How exciting! AND a family friend was getting rid of her brand new loveseat and asked if we wanted it- needless to say, Aunt Judy brought it with her and we now have a beautiful loveseat!!! (Thanks Betty!!! =) ) Pictures to come! I have been putting up last little bits of decorations now that we have a full apartment. I know some have been asking to see our apt. so hopefully soon, I will get some pictures up of our new home.

Ticknor Update

Praise the Lord! God is always good! The doctors took the baby on Monday (via C-section) and baby Toby is doing well. I was so excited to be able to see Mike and Misty at the hospital before she went to delivery. I thank the Lord for those few precious moments. Misty had brain surgery yesterday (friday) morning, and from what I hear she came through just fine. The doctors said the surgery went well. She is in recovery and I don't know much more than that at this point but we are so grateful for God's mercy. Thank you friends for praying. We, and I know the Ticknors, appreciate it!

Old college friends...

Awhile ago, through this blog, an old friend and I got in touch with each other. It was so neat when we discovered that we lived not too too far from one another. After I got home from teaching, Melinda came over for the evening. We had a lot of fun! We made dinner together, talked, and caught up on all kinds of stuff. What memories! I believe it was very encouraging for the both of us to see a familiar face.... a familiar Northland face! :) I enjoyed having her sweet spirit and fun-loving personality. It was so neat. It's kind of like a zoo, but not really. They have many of the retired animals from Hollywood. Next to the animals or their cage was a sign that showed you what all movies, commericals, advertisements that that particular animal was in. It was cool. They also take you on a safari where we got to pet and feed many odd animals....since they are mainly tame animals. It was very very hot but we had a great time. I love field trips.
Here's a few pics.....

We got to pet this buffalo or bison thing . He was licking the kids- He has a 17 inch long tongue!

Check out the face on that kid!! I thought this was sooo funny. This is actually not a camel...it only has one hump- i forget what they called them, but they kept getting right in our faces!

These guys were coming right at me. Misty is 23 years old and is in the hospital. She had a stroke and doesn't seem to be doing so well. She was 2 weeks from delivering their first baby boy. The baby is doing great thankfully. Misty has swelling in her brain and severe pain. The doctors are keeping her for a week hoping for the swelling to go down so they can deliver the baby next week. The doctors will then do brain surgery on her. Please pray - she is not able to eat anything and not even able to have an IV b/c of too much fluid to the brain. She is very pregnant and not able to take the meds, etc. This an absolutely precious couple- God is using them mightily....please pray for the family with us. I have the age group of 1st-5th grade. I have enjoyed them very much and I am grateful for what I have learned so far. I certainly have had my struggles but I'm thankful for the opportunity the Lord has given me this last week. It has prepared me some for the school year. Please pray for me these next 2 days as I finish up. Tomorrow we get to go on a field trip to a nearby Animal Park. I'm looking forward to that.

Tim's work schedule has changed a little bit for the rest of the summer. He is still working 2nd shift but now everyone is being required to work for 12 days straight, then they get a saturday/sunday off. 12 days and then sat/sun off. Tim only has 1 more month of this job....HALLELUJAH!!! We are excited to actually have a whole day together-- Tim has not had 1 saturday all summer, but we knew it was just for a season and soon we'd be together each day again. This coming saturday is his first day off(other than memorial day)!! And we are going to rest a bunch and also Tim says he is going to take me to the mall.....two very sweet ladies gave me a gift card for my birthday!!!! yippee! (love you)

I'm sorry noone has heard from us recently-- it's been very very busy! But I really can't imagine what it's going to be like when school starts. Tim will be assist. coaching the men's soccer team (in training for head coach next year), and we will be team coaching the girls basketball team.. How fun is that, huh?!? We are so excited about this opportunity together. It should be super fun.
Well I'm exhausted and heading off to rest. I just wanted to give you a little update of our happenings.......

Something New!

I don't claim to be a great theologian, nor do I claim to know a whole lot about anything. But I (Tim) thought that I would start something new to be an encouragement/challenge to those who may need it. I have developed a series of thoughts from the 119th Psalm and will be posting them (as well as thoughts that the Lord has given me on other Scripture) under the "To Be An Encouragement" link that is off to the side. Please feel free to share your thoughts and comments. I do not intend for it to be a forum of great theological debate, but it is to be used for the glory of God and the good of others. And I hope that it will accomplish exactly that.

We love Mom and Dad!

Mom and Dad Harney came from IL for a quick visit. It was so wonderful to see them. We absolutely love our parents. They are the greatest ever! It's always a blessing to spend time with family. We had an awesome time all together. Mom has a sweet, fun-loving, caring spirit; Dad is just a riot to be with. He's so fun- always knows how to put a smile on your face, and always there to take care of his family no matter what the circumstance. You can tell its important to him. I'm grateful for my husband who takes after his dad in many areas. He is also like his mom in many areas too- I'm so blessed to have the best of my "in-loves" living with me every day! Tim is very close to his family, and that's something I've always been very grateful for. I wanted to marry a man who loves his parents very much, and boy did I ever marry right. God is so good.
We have such a wonderful family. Mom and Dad got to stay with our sister and brother "in love", Sara and Jon. They arrived there Tuesday night. We all got to spend the day together on Wednesday. Yes, Guess what??!?!? Tim's supervisor let him have the day off and Jon got to take the day off work, so we were all together for the whole day. What blessings! We were so thrilled!!! Mom, Dad, Jon, and Sara all came to our place Wednesday morning. We had a blast! Mom and Dad brought us FURNITURE! PRAISE THE LORD! YEAH!! We got a couch and a chair and a bed for our guest room, and a couple boxes of Tim's old things. We are so grateful. Our apartment now feels like home. Dad was a blessing and helped Tim fix a little issue we had in our closet. The family did lots of talking and reminiscing. Mom also brought us some bulletin board items for our classrooms. Hallelujah! (THANK YOU MOM!!!!) How exciting. We made many memories in just 1 1/2 days. We also got to go to church together at our new church. It was so nice! They went home after church and then Tim and I drove to Jon and Sara's thursday morning. We went out for a little bit, then met Jon back at the house for his lunch break. Then we parted ways. Tim took me home and went to work and Mom and Dad started their journey back to IL. We praise God for the time we got to spend together...It's always sad to part. When we spend time with family, we find ourselves loving them more after each time we see them. Me? I never went to kindergarten as a kid.....I was too smart for that! ha ha ha :) Now I find myself with the great task of teaching it come August. I am very excited for the things I am going to learn and how God is going to show Himself mightily through each and every aspect. As I have been looking through the curriculum, I have found that I will be teaching my precious students how to write. I realized, First- I need to learn myself how to write!!!!!!! =) My handwriting is unique in it's own way... it's nothing like the "original." I looked over the 'chart' at each letter and thought, "I better start practicing!" So I got me a piece of paper and traced the big lines on it and began to try to form the "shape" in front of me. Whew!!! It was a doosy! I practiced and practiced, traced and traced. I had a row (a couple of rows for some letters) for each letter and it was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen on paper! I couldn't believe that I wrote that!!! When Tim came home, I showed him and we laughed about it together and analyzed each letter discovering which ones I'm good at, and which ones seem impossible!! I think I got the "L" down!!!! I know now that I will have much sympathy for my fellow struggling students this fall. =) I am quite embarrassed that I cannot form the proper letters correctly. In time, it will come- I HOPE!!!! I know it's something simple, but I know Jesus cares about the small and simple things-- I'm asking Him to help me learn how to write!

A funny story- One Sunday, a little boy was running across the pew bench (front row!) before church started. Tim kind of looked at me and smiled because he thought it was humorous; he is a very cute, sweet boy. But his smile turned to laughter when I said, "And that's one of my students!!"

Adjusting

At first I had a really hard time, I cried a lot. I miss our church family at Lifeway. God is always good and has a perfect plan. We really like our new church and church family. They certainly don't replace any of our loved ones at Lifeway but just added to. :) May God enlarge our hearts! There are many ministries to be involved in here. We are waiting to see where God will have us serve. We are in the choir, and would like to be involved in visitation and the bus ministry, but with Tim's work schedule, it's not possible right now. Maybe when school starts! Tim is preaching in Sunday School this Sunday. :) yeah!!!!! And he was asked to be the Awana Commander for wednesday nights once the school year starts. He hasn't made a final decision yet. We would also like to be involved with the teenagers. We love teenagers!! The youth leaders right now said they could use some help with different things. yipppeee! We'll see what God has for us. We'll let ya know what all happens when it happens ....after tim's summer work schedule.
This is some of our loved and missed friends like family....
We love you Trey, Blake, Christiana, Bethlee, Grant, and of course Pastor Steve and Melinda(not pictured). But I was able to make him his favorite dinner and one of his favorite desserts- Boston Cream Pie. My friend Sarah let me borrow a bunch of birthday decorations and I had fun surprising him when he got out of bed. Tim's favorite hockey team is the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he has been eyeing this T-shirt/hat combo on their website. Since the Leafs are out of the playoffs, all of their stuff went super sale. So I was able to get him this t-shirt and much needed hat for dirt cheap! He was so surprised.
It was another short special day!

Hallelujah Day Anniversary- May 21!!!!!!

I have been married to the most wonderful, handsome man in the whole world for 1 year!!!!! We have had an exciting year together. We praise our God and rejoice in the awesome marriage HE has given to us. We spent some time dedicating ourselves and marriage to Him again....as we did 1 year ago. We tried to celebrate a little of our anniversary on Saturday but Tim had to work from 1-9. We did get about 2 hours in the morning to go through memories and eat. I tried to make a lot of the food we had at our wedding. It was fun. I even attempted to make a cake similar to the one we had. I had fun decorating with much wedding memorabilia and pictures. When we got home for a few hours before choir practice, we watched our wedding video. Needless to say, there were many tears. We are so grateful to the Lord for a perfect Hallelujah Day and so grateful for all of our friends and family who played such a huge part. We miss you. We can say that every day has been a Hallelujah Day for us. Each day gets better and better. We are human and have had some hard times, but every day ended a hallelujah day! God is good!

Summer Job

We did move here to SC on April 30. Here is a picture of us and my Grandma at our new church. Aunt Judy and Grandma came and helped us move in. They were a huge help. Also some men from the church helped us unload our truck and they were a blessing as well. We have been praying for a summer job for Tim, and we praise the Lord he provided one! He works Monday - Friday 3pm-11pm and Saturdays 1pm-9pm. He's a hard workin' man! We are grateful that God has provided. The environment is kind of hard.... he works at a factory called Imperial Diecasting. The language is awful and everyone smokes around him. Oddly, they are allowed to smoke while they work-- I'm still trying to figure that one out!!!?? But he has met some nice people. Tim invited this one man to come to church with us last sunday and he came!! We were so excited. Pray that he will keep coming.
As far as for me working, I do have off most of the summer. There are a couple of weeks that I will substitute teach at the school's summer day camp, but that's about it. I am really loving it. I take care of my home and my husband - AND LOVE IT! It's been so wonderful to be home. I have worked non-stop since I've been 16 and I am enjoying the time of rest and recup and lesson planning before the school year starts. I do miss Tim a lot since he's gone so much now. It's been an adjustment. We are used to being with each other ALL the time, and doing everything together. But God is always good and knows what He's doing. This is only for a season.

Blog or Not to Blog?!?!

Well I wasn't sure if I wanted to get into this blogging, but after a few weeks of not being able to email, I realized that I need to stay in touch with my friends and this was the easiest way right now. Our avenue of internet connection has been giving us trouble with emailing, so that is why most of you haven't heard from us via email. Sorry! Tim set us up but I wasn't sure I wanted to get involved, but I now see it's a must every now and then. :) So...I will update you on the last number of weeks eventually. You may be thinking, "What's the big deal?" For those of you who know me well, know that I am a person who is so focused on time - so "time conscience" that it tends to be a fault. I despise wasting time. And I knew that if I got involved in this I would be wasting much of my time and get too consumed in it when I could be reading books that I've been wanting to read, and home projects I've put off for years, etc. Anyway, here I am! We'll do this blog together attempting to update you as best we can. So- if you want any really juicy details (about MY life, that is) you'll have to call me!!! hee hee ;)
Pray that I will be balanced in my time! :) Balance is the key, right??!!

Finally a Job!

Hi there from the Harneys!
For many months now, we have been praying for the Lord to provide me with a job. Since camp season ended last summer and the public school substituting ended in September, I started looking for a job. I really felt the Lord leading me in the way of youth ministry and had a really great opportunity to be a youth pastor at a church in Kentucky. But shortly after visiting the church we received a call saying that now wasn't the right time. So with that I kept pursuing work in the area. I tried to get jobs at grocery stores, banks, and gas stations but it seemed that wherever I went the door was being closed. It finally dawned on me to "enroll" in the ministry placement from Northland Baptist Bible College, and through that I received names of several churches that were in need of a youth pastor. I contacted them upon receiving the information, but never really heard anything back. Finally, as the new year started to pass by, I was burdened to do whatever I could to seek the job God wanted. So I asked for the list of schools in the country needing teachers and started to contact them. Within just a few days of contacting schools, one school kept contacting me and was showing some interest in having me teach at their school. Within a week of being contacted we made a trip down to see both the school and the church. After seeing the church and through much prayer, we knew that this is where the Lord was leading us. The school actually didn't just want me to teach, but they were also very intersted in having Heidi teach in their K-5 department.
And so that is where we are now. After a month of getting things ready to leave our home in Indiana, we packed up our bags and headed to South Carolina to teach at Easley Christian School. We are really excited about the ministry that the Lord has given us. We are looking forward to the coming school year with much anticipation of how God is going to use us. Our school has a policy to allow unsaved children into the elementary area where both of us will be teaching, so there is a great opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus with our students. Please pray with us that we may see many come to know Him as a result of being in our classrooms. I have an especially great opportunity as I prepare the students in the 6th grade for Junior High and High School where they must give testimony of salvation before being allowed into the school.
Well, that does it for our first update. Please keep us in your prayers, and do stay in touch.

This was right before we left our old apartment in Indiana.
